INSTALLATION - EXPAND 1 AND 2
XChanges Gallery Oct 2016 Victoria, B.C. Canada
EXPAND – In this multi-panelled wall painting installation the whole wall is activated. The panels dissemble and geomorph across the walls evolving in relation to each other. This work addresses the interplay between nature, science and the cosmos. Within a multiple-point perspective the work explores ideas of Quantum Physics which tells us nothing is still in the universe – all is in some form of motion. My work interconnects geometry, crystalline structures, symbolic languages, colour theory, pictorial space and metaphysics.
These shaped assembled paintings emerged as a result of thinking about the open-ended expanding Quantum Field. My studio process involves an intuitive approach to content and practice. Paintings begin with grids and grounds and evolve into a multi-layering of imagery. Imagery references range from the micro of coral life forms to macro visualizations of theoretical cosmology. I explore colour theories and also respond to random colour interactions. Colour is also used optically to evoke an emotional response drawing viewers into the work.
